Daisy’s story – RADAR Graduate

RADAR is an accelerator scheme devised in collaboration with the University of Lincoln for graduates looking for a head start after University. Through a paid internship, we give graduates first-hand experience and a chance to put their skills and talents into practice in the workplace. RADAR also includes bespoke personal development and mentorship, tailored to the individual to help them find the best career route.

Here’s Daisy’s story about her experience of the scheme…

I graduated with a BA Hons in Media Production from the University of Lincoln in 2015. Straight after graduating I got the marketing assistant internship as part of the RADAR scheme. This paid internship gave me the first step I needed to start my career after university. It gave me the opportunity to use my existing skills gained through studying for my degree, and also develop my skills further by offering valuable experience that I wouldn’t have got elsewhere coming straight out of university.

The RADAR scheme provided me with guidance and development sessions to discuss possible routes and careers to plan for after the internship, so I didn’t feel so lost going out into the big world anymore.

I was lucky to be given the chance to come back and be taken on as an employed  member of staff for Frequency 2017. This gave me a chance to develop my skills further by taking the lead on the social media campaign, handle budgets with paid social media and greater responsibilities like seeing more of the festival by working with media teams and an external PR Agency. These skills will greatly improve my growing CV.

Working with Frequency Festival and the Threshold team is always a great experience as the team is so close and always made up of talented and hardworking people. No matter how crazy the workload gets, you know you’re all in it together and someone will always have your back.
