LINCOLN CONNECTED
Threshold embarks in a groundbreaking partnership as the first NPO to collaborate with an LVEP within a Town Deal Programme.
In 2023 Threshold Studios forged a new partnership with Visit Lincoln to deliver Lincoln Connected: a Be Lincoln Town Deal Project to reimagine Lincoln’s High Street using digital technology to connect people to the City’s heritage, culture, retail, and leisure offer.
The three-year, £1.45m project, funded by the government’s Be Lincoln Town Deal Fund, is set to accelerate digital adoption across the city for residents, businesses, and visitors. It aims to drive the recovery of Lincoln’s visitor economy while shaping the future of the High Street. This initiative ensures that Lincoln becomes not only a top destination to visit but also a vibrant, inclusive place to live, work, and explore.
Charlotte Goy, Chief Executive Visit Lincoln commented,
“We are delighted to be partnering with Threshold. Lincoln Connected brings together experts in digital placemaking and the visitor economy – it’s the first partnership between an NPO and LVEP within a Town Deal Programme which is pretty innovative. We’ve tracked the visitor journey and will deliver technological advances in our destination marketing in a way that is fun and attractive to visitors through arts and culture”.
Creative Digital Placemaking: Threshold as a Project Partner
In addition to developing a Digital Roadmap for the Lincoln Connected project, we are proud to be leading and developing an exciting creative commissioning programme, and a pilot Light Night event set to take place during the ‘shoulder season’ of the events calendar.
At the core of the creative programme is our commissioning framework, which develops a series of new, site-specific and of-place installations, bringing world-class digital and cultural experiences to Lincoln. Over the three years, there will be 12 commissions, driven by target visitor segments, to not only enrich the city’s cultural landscape but also drive economic growth by deepening visitors’ connection with the city.
“Threshold have been embedded in Lincoln’s creative community since 2010, with our biennial Frequency International Festival of Digital Culture. Over the past 15 years we’ve grown alongside the city, celebrating its vibrant cultural heritage. We’re proud to collaborate with Visit Lincoln and the City of Lincoln Council on this inspiring project to drive digital transformation, while developing new works that celebrate the city’s unique identity, and leaving a lasting impact on both the place and its people.”
Samantha Lindley, CEO Threshold Studios commented.
All of the experiences under the Lincoln Connected project have been made possible thanks to government funding from Be Lincoln Town Deal Fund and in partnership with Threshold Studios, City of Lincoln Council and Visit Lincoln.
