Reimagining Lincolnshire at Lincoln Pride 2025

On August 16th 2025,  the Threshold team had the privilege of attending Lincoln Pride 2025 as part of our Reimagining Lincolnshire project. It was a day filled with creativity, conversation, and connection – the perfect way to begin this exciting new project.

Throughout the day, we spoke with people about Lincolnshire’s hidden histories, particularly those connected to LGBTQIA+ lives and experiences. The enthusiasm, openness, and stories shared with us were both moving and inspiring. These conversations reinforced why Reimagining Lincolnshire is so important: to make sure that overlooked voices are not only heard, but celebrated as part of our county’s cultural heritage.

One of the highlights of the day was our free drop-in zine-making workshop, led by local artist Thomas Cansdale. Visitors were invited to respond to real stories from Lincolnshire’s queer past through writing, drawing, collage, and other creative expressions.

The response was fantastic – people of all ages and backgrounds took part, each sharing their own unique thoughts, feelings and ideas. The resulting pages will form part of a collaborative zine that captures the diversity, resilience, and creativity of our community today.

The Perfect Start

Being part of Lincoln Pride was more than just an event – it was the beginning of a journey. Reimagining Lincolnshire aims to uncover, share, and celebrate the hidden histories of our county, ensuring that everyone’s story is valued and remembered. Seeing the community so engaged and ready to contribute was the perfect start to what we know will be a powerful and transformative project.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along, shared their stories, and interacted with us. We’re excited to continue this work and build a collective archive that reflects Lincolnshire in all its richness and diversity.

A special thanks also goes to our partners
University of Lincoln, and to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for funding the project.

This is only the beginning – we can’t wait to share more as Reimagining Lincolnshire develops.
