Margate Festival
Threshold were appointed this year as Festival Producers for Margate Festival, working with partners to develop the festival beyond the 2016 edition.
Margate combines the familiar landscapes of the British seaside with contemporary art, the re-birth of vintage aesthetic, and a growing and thriving artistic community.
Following on from our work on Frequency Festival in Lincoln, we are developing a high-quality festival that works with the architecture, energy and flow of the place; engaging existing audiences as well as throwing open the doors and laying down a beach towel for new ones.
Margate Festival 2016: SightSeeking
Margate Festival 2016 aims to celebrate the town and the creativity within it, making connections and strengthening bonds between arts organisations, artists, disciplines and the local community. The festival draws inspiration from Turner Contemporary’s Summer exhibition ‘Seeing Round Corners’, with alternative excursions in Margate that create a sense of adventure and exploration underpinned by cultural experiences.
Visitors are encouraged to see round the corners of Margate, exposing the streets and alleyways for art and seaside audiences alike; paving the way for people to find hidden gems and new experiences.
The programme features a range of exhibitions, performances, workshops, talks and experiences, suited to adventurous art-goers looking for something new and unique, as well as families looking for a day out.
