Game On

“I really enjoyed using code with Arduinos as you could see exactly how words on a screen affected an object you could touch and had wired.”
Game On participant, 2015.

Women are currently under-represented in creative technology fields. These industries are growing quickly and as digital culture becomes a part of everyday life, it is vital that women are an equal part of the emerging generation of digital creators.

Game On is a programme for girls aged 13-14 (KS3) to engage with creative technology through learning games development and basic coding skills – opening up potential career routes and raising aspirations of young women to achieve in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) fields.

Following 18 years of youth engagement work, Threshold successfully piloted this new programme in 2014-15 with 33 girls participating in 390 hours of games development – working through narrative, coding and testing.

We are now looking to work with partners to widen the reach of the programme. If you’re interested in supporting Game On, want to bring it to your school or community group, or want more information, get in touch for an informal conversation.
