Threshold Studios

Threshold Studios is a not for profit Social Enterprise, an organisation led by media practitioners with extensive experience of working in the arts and creative industries. We provide a portal to the creative industries for emerging talent, assist artists to engage with moving image technologies, offer one to one career development sessions for professional artists and film makers and design and deliver bespoke Training Linked to Production solutions for the creative media industries.

We raise skills and aspirations in the region’s young people by providing opportunities for them to write, produce, direct and shoot a film with support from locally based media professionals with a commitment to reinvesting their skills back into the community.


PROFESSIONAL SOLUTIONS
Threshold’s Professional Solutions programme offers bespoke solutions for Fast Track Development through Training Linked to Production for companies in the Creative Media sector. We can help you to upskill core staff, interns or trainees or assist you to break through the industry’s remaining glass-ceilings. We are particularly interested in challenges that address change for individuals from backgrounds that remain under-represented in the media industry.


ARTISTS DEVELOPMENT
Threshold Studios is an artists-led, Arts Council Regularly Funded Organisation that provides mentorship for artists working in moving image, offering access to a network of other artists, equipment, studios, and technical support. We commission new artists' moving image works each year through our Critical Mass programme.


YOUNG CREATIVES
Our Young Creatives programme offers opportunities for young people in the East Midlands to write, produce, direct and shoot their own short films with the help of locally based media professionals. We also offer opportunities for young people to work with locally based artists to create pieces of aerosol art, make a music track, take digital photographs, develop turntable skills with an experienced DJ, or learn breakdance techniques.


Media Arts in Education

Our team includes workshop leaders who understand the needs of formal educational establishments. We tailor our delivery model to synchronise with your curriculum needs.


COMMUNITY COHESION & REGENERATION
Threshold Studios has a ten year history of enabling communities to use media production to share their stories, record their histories, voice their concerns and disseminate their message. Creative Media for Social Change is a founding principle of the organisation and we are always interested to hear from communities or policy makers who have an interest is using video production and the DVD format to raise awareness about an issue. In many cases we can assist you with raising the funds for a project.
